Description and Objectives
This presentation takes on an individual and system lens to identify the ways in which sexual trauma occurs and can be defined. During this training, attendees will learn about common nervous system states and related behaviors that can emerge from this type of trauma. Interventions to assist sexual trauma survivors to re-establish safety, regulation and renegotiation of the traumatic event(s) will be provided. Additionally, discussion will include recommendations for preventative measures to reduce the vast number of individuals who are affected by this category of trauma.
Upon completing the workshop, participants will be able to:
- identify ways sexual trauma occurs and can be defined
- understand common nervous system states and behaviors associated with sexual trauma
- identify interventions they can in their work with sexual trauma survivors
